How to Maintain Diesel Generator Sets, and What Should Be Considered During the Maintenance Process?

1. For the maintenance and care of diesel generator sets, it is essential to first ensure the generator set is in a shutdown 

state to guarantee safety. Before cleaning, the negative cable of the starting battery must be disconnected to prevent the 

generator set from starting automatically.

2. The internal and external parts of the alternator must be cleaned regularly, with the frequency depending on the 

environmental conditions where the unit is located. Before cleaning, disconnect all power sources. Wipe off all surface dust, 

dirt, oil stains, water, or any other liquids. The ventilation mesh should also be thoroughly cleaned. If dust inadvertently enters 

the coils, it can cause overheating or damage the insulation. Therefore, it is best to remove dust and dirt using a vacuum cleaner 

rather than blowing air or using high-pressure water spray for cleaning.

3. To prevent moisture absorption by the generator set, which could lower insulation resistance, the generator must be dried properly.
