Nowadays, many people consider power consumption when purchasing electrical appliances, and the same applies to buying generator sets.
Customers also take fuel consumption into account when selecting a generator set. However, most users are unfamiliar with the numbers
indicated in the parameters. For example, a 5kW gasoline generator set may be labeled with a fuel consumption rate of 540g/kW/h,
which means it consumes 540 grams of fuel per kilowatt per hour. Many customers mistakenly interpret this as the generator consuming 540 grams per hour.
In reality, this is not the case. It means 540 grams per kilowatt per hour, indicating that at full load, the machine consumes 540 grams for 1 kW, and 5 kW
would equate to five times 540 grams. At this point, many customers might think the generator’s fuel consumption is excessively high. However,
what I mentioned earlier applies to full-load conditions. In practice, the actual fuel consumption is not that high because electrical equipment
connected to the generator requires a starting current. Thus, when purchasing a 5kW gasoline generator, you typically won’t use all 5kW. Moreover,
if the connected equipment has low power, the generator’s fuel consumption may only be one-third of the theoretical value.
Therefore, there is no need to worry too much about the fuel consumption of generator sets.
